My Top 10 Take Away Tips from Dr Y’s Latest Seminar

This blog is my own favourite set of tips from Dr. Yurkovsky’s seminar that I was privileged enough to attend the weekend before last. I accept that this is going to be more interesting to FCT practitioners and students than others but no matter who you are, I urge you to continue reading. This training had something for everyone who is interested in the real causes of chronic diseases and how to treat them.

OK let’s jump in and begin with my top favourite:

1) The importance of electricity, magnetism, and EMFs in health and disease.

Firstly, the beneficial, regenerative kind: the Schumann resonances centred around 7 hertz emanating from the earth and from our own bodies ; and the natural emission of photons from the DNA in our forming a matrix, wave pattern of interference that signals the presence of health and disease.

Now, the nasty, pathogenic, negative, stressful kind: pretty much all the rest of what we as contemporary society generate: household electricity, wireless radio/TV broadcast/mobile phone transmissions, local WIFI/hands-free phone emissions, household appliances (especially those with motors…) , etc…, etc…  I replicate with permission (presented online exclusively here for the first time in the public domain) two new diagrams from Dr Yurkovsky (www.yurkovsky.com) illustrating this:

i)                    The role of EMFs in Retention of toxins & harmful effects on the immune system leading to chronic toxicity & inflammation (NB: HM = Heavy Metal ; EMF = Electromagnetic fields)

ii)                   The “oulde” triangle

In Ireland there is a very well known traditional song about a prison in Dublin, Kilmainham Gaol, and the lyrics refer to a triangle that was used to signal to prisoners when they should be ready to wake up or prepare for lights out etc.. Similarly the above flow chart can be summarised more simply as follows and a prison of pathogenic signals that keeps patients in disease and obstructs our best attempts at treatment. In Praise of Bicycles – and Exercise

In my last blog, I attempted to summarize what Field Control Therapy (FCT) is – by introducing the idea of design – and I sought to show how important it is in medicine to have a well-designed system. I theorized that this may be why FCT, based on the concepts of Living Systems Medicine, has been a popular course of study for engineers. Next, by way of example or parallel, I’m going to take on a rather different issue – bicycling – and relate it also to questions of health as well as much else. . . Be warned, all car drivers – you may find cause for offence in my writing today, and if I take it too far, may I apologise in advance – although perhaps it may be a worthy debate either way!

Consider this: the bicycle is a truly beautiful design. Do you have one? Take a look at it. Surely it is almost as near perfection as any human design can get. (I can understand why Flann O’Brien wrote about characters falling in love with their bicycles – more from him later!)

It is compact. It can even be folded up in some designs (my father, for example, cycled from San Francisco to New York on a fold-up bike). It is easy to learn to ride. It can go fast or slow. It’s hard to kill someone with one. It’s good for the heart. It helps the rider stay fit and healthy. When riding it, there’s no shortage of fresh air. It affords a great all-round view of the passing scenery, and allows us to be more connected to nature as we travel. It requires no fuel except your own legs, and yet your legs don’t need to feel any jolt from touching the ground, making it a healthier form of exercise than jogging. It’s no wonder that gyms the world over are full of exercise bikes – yet why bother with those when you can have the joy of a real bike in the fresh air?

Using gears, it’s easy to adjust for different slopes. It’s a quick and easy way to travel a mile or, for enthusiasts, a hundred miles. It gives off no pollution. It doesn’t harm the environment. It’s not directly dependent on any fossil fuels. It can even be a sociable mode of transport, with fellow cyclists chatting as they ride. When there are traffic jams, you can slip between and ahead of the cars easily on your bike, because no one ever heard of a traffic jam or rush hour delay caused by bicycles. Continue reading

Perspective & Informed Choices – A tribute to Dr. Vincent McCabe

One of the “magnificent seven” guiding principles in FCT is perspective. First let me readily acknowledge my colleague, Simon Rees, who introduced this key concept to the FCT lexicon. It is truly of paramount importance in guiding not only how we treat patients but also how we make choices for health and healing in life.

I was reminded of the importance of perspective recently while listening to a radio interview about raw milk. Many of you may not be aware but the sale of raw milk is about to be banned in Ireland. I believe that raw milk produced by organic, pasture fed cows in farms that adhere to proper standards of hygiene is a true super food. As such, banning it is a travesty of justice. Anyway, my purpose here is not to try and argue the case for raw milk (you can refer to the Weston A Price foundation web site for this).

During the interview a “scientist” was being asked why raw milk should be banned. He replied by referencing a very specific bacterium which was considered to be “pathogenic” and stating that this was included in raw milk and as such it would be dangerous for humans to consume it. I’m amazed that so many survived this deadly bug before the wonders of pasteurisation and homogenization were invented. In fact, how do the many Germans, Italians, and Swiss consumers survive its deadly effects when so many people in these countries still continue to consume raw milk regularly. . . ?

When I was in first year engineering many years ago, we had a lecturer who taught a course on engineering practice. His name was Dr. Vincent McCabe and he asked a question that illustrated beautifully the primacy of perspective in analysis: what happens when you install and turn on a refrigerator in a kitchen and leave the door open? Does the ambient temperature in the room rise or fall? Continue reading

Complexity and Medicine

One is never to underestimate the power of societal conditioning and its mind control over an individual psyche that would render the majority doubt the existing ineptness of contemporary medical research and practices to find answers to autism and all chronic diseases as expressed in my blog last week.  “Some maverick doctor who isn’t even a scientist cannot be right while so many in notoriety are wrong.”

However, to my own surprise and barely weeks after first posting my autism article at my website, I came across an ardent supporter of the same views and who has been a prominent member of medical research and the professional community until his recent passing away.  British-born former Professor of Medicine from Auckland University School of Medicine, Colin J. Alexander, in his just-published book, “Complexity and Medicine: The elephant in the waiting room” makes emphasis on the crucial factor of the human body in all chronic diseases and in health ─ complexity.

This very concept that the FCT curriculum has introduced and evolved since 1999 explains why and exactly how complexity can easily mislead the entire community of medical research and medical practices.  It does so by generating an enormous excess of findings in diseases which, without correct methods to understand their essence, primary or unimportant factors and the ability to address the primary ones, dooms us to confusion and failure.

Not surprisingly, Professor Alexander, as anybody who understands the concept of complexity, concurs that it is the excess, not deficiency of findings that has doomed medical research and medical practices to a dead-end street. Continue reading

About FCT: What’s in a Design?

First, a couple of preliminaries:

On 6-9 October, there is a seminar in Field Control Therapy (FCT) taking place in NY, USA – details here. We will be there, and recommend it also to anyone with an interest in FCT, autism, ADHD, Lyme Disease or bioresonance testing – or health in general.

Savely Yurkovsky, M.D., creator of FCT, who is teaching the seminar, kindly contributed a blog for us earlier this week on the subject of autism, the subject of this seminar and also of his upcoming book. If you haven’t already, read his autism blog here. It’s a free article in which he shares many profound insights about autism and medicine in general. Next week, he will be following it up with a blog on complexity and medicine.

For subscribers – don’t forget also to add Dr Yurkovsky’s blog email address to your “Contacts” list in your email account alongside ours, to ensure you receive his future blogs: dryurkovsky@systemsrevolution.com.

Now, my main topic of today – What’s in a design?

An idea struck me as I was cycling my bike. . . and there on the roadside yesterday I planned a new blog in which I’m going to link bicycles, engineers, exercise and medicine!

For a while now, I’ve been pondering how best to write an introduction to FCT for this webpage. For now, I’ve decided instead to write first about why I and others I know like it. After all, by way of parallel, there are probably even more books out there about why people loved the Beatles, than those about their music. So this seems as good a starting place as any! At the same time, I’ll be discussing why FCT is so popular with engineers; and I’ll be taking a brief look at the role of exercise in a healthy lifestyle – and the main reason many people don’t get enough: cars. . . I’ll also be analyzing some of the primary shortcomings of conventional medicine and lab testing with examples. So let’s aim for several birds with one stone. . .

The basic theme I have in mind is one of design. I’m a person who basically respects things which are well-made. I have always been like this.

When I see someone doing something with great skill, or something which has been designed impeccably, it invites my fascination and admiration. Continue reading

Autism: Factors that engender and sustain it, and why current treatments and research have failed

May I invite you to attend my upcoming seminar on autism and ADHD (together with other topics including Lyme disease and bio-resonance testing), taking place in NY, USA, on 6-9 October 2011. Details here.

The article which follows contains new content never published elsewhere except very recently on my website. It is a free preview of some of the topics from my upcoming book, “Autism and ADHD – An Inescapable Epidemic. Whose Child is Next? True Roots and Solutions.”

Autism and ADHD

“The problem lies not in the intentions, nor in the dedication of individuals, but as so often in the history of science, from a limitation in the prevailing paradigm or model that governs and limits thinking in any given era.” Thomas Kuhn, PhD (physics), Professor, Philosophy of Science at Harvard University

“That which is wrong in its primary matter, will be also wrong in its secondary matter.” Latin aphorism

An obscure disease only a few decades ago, today autism has emerged as a worldwide childhood epidemic. Tragically, its true roots remain obscure, its cures are sporadic and the failure of those treatments publicized is the rule. These alarming facts command the urgent analysis of all relevant issues related to autism, including serious misconceptions concerning this condition. Continue reading

Cellular Resistance or “Hypo-functioning organ” – use bio-resonance to ask the question

Deepak Chopra once brilliantly observed that disease and aging is the progressive loss of intelligence. I can still remember how that sentence jumped out at me all those years ago. I was not fully aware then of the significance it would bring to my thinking but even then it was like a light turning on.

I was reminded of this recently when speaking to a relatively young patient who had been advised to consider hormone replacement. I am actually an advocate of bio-identical hormone replacement when it’s done properly and when it’s appropriate for the patient.

However, this case made me reconsider a train of thought that I had already been pondering and I would like to share that with you now.

A healthy cell knows that it’s incomplete without a community to work for and with. Its cell membrane should be loaded with thousands and thousands of receptors – each one just waiting for an appropriate messenger molecule to come by and engage its “open arms.” In this way it can adjust its activities and their intensity to match the demands of the entire system to which it belongs.

The first person who clearly delineated to me the correct chain of events ending in diabetes was Dr. Jonathan Wright. He clearly pinpointed the beginning of that process as cellular resistance to insulin. This state of insulin resistance is a precursor to many diseases including Continue reading

Non Linearity and Meaning in Living Systems

One of the biggest hurdles in believing in informational medicine is accepting the fact that a very tiny – a seemingly inconsequentially small input – can produce a measurable therapeutic effect.

For example, it is argued by sceptics who dismiss therapies like homeopathy or FCT, that with all the millions of different molecules and substances that confront us every day, how can the “ghost” of a substance have any effect at all? Surely would it not be completely drowned out by the background noise?

Behind this apparently reasonable critique is the model of the human body as a largely machine-like automaton. In effect we are largely robotic with the millions and trillions of repetitive daily reactions occurring because of some hard-wired program that repeats itself mindlessly until it slowly grinds to a mortal end. This is the prevailing paradigm and our medical language is testament to this belief. The autonomic nervous system is assumed to operate autonomously regardless of our internal and external environment keeping metabolism, pH, temperature, and substance concentrations within the ranges necessary to sustain life.

As useful as this model has been, it is fundamentally flawed. It assumes that “things just happen.” However, no reaction or exchange in the body just happens: it is either allowed to happen or work is purposefully expended in making it happen. In every case the least amount of work necessary is expended so if a substance can drift across a permeable or semi-permeable membrane and it suits our purpose for this to happen then so be it.

To the eye behind the microscope the movement may appear random but it is anything but random. It is part of the beautiful design. The narrower our focus, the more likely we are to perceive random or chaotic phenomena. For sure, if you or I were to sit on top of a single molecule in the body it would seem like some chaotic fun fare ride – constant movement, constant electron exchange, with no apparent purpose. Continue reading

Cancer – life after diagnosis?

I thought my last blog about cancer was exactly that – the last one I’d write. It just shows how unreliable I am. It appears this subject is not finished with me yet. For those readers who have shown forbearance with my obsession until now, thank you. I can only hope that I have something more to say which justifies your patience.

This blog is in response to a politician in Ireland who recently died of pancreatic cancer. I remember hearing about his diagnosis 18 months ago and thinking that Dr. Gonzalez had a good record with pancreatic cancer and that were I in his position I would seek the advice of that doctor. I’m sure he didn’t. Such doctors as he lie outside the pale. They are unknown to all but those who actively seek them out.

They have no support outside the system because their methods do not follow those considered to be best practice (or any kind of practice at all). Instead of support they receive harassment from authorities who ignore the many stories of cancer cures and/or remissions emerging from their patients.

The question struck me this morning: what would I do if I had a cancer diagnosis given to me today? Continue reading

Cancer – the aristocracy of disease

This is the third article in a series of reflections about cancer. I may be retracing old ground here – saying similar things to statements I made in my two earlier blogs. I thought at first that I should reread these before I started this one but then I decided not to. Nature doesn’t work that way and as always I am happy to copy her.

At the centre of the cancer phenomenon is information or more precisely a lack of information exchange. What do I mean by this? I was told when I was young that nature hates a vacuum and that unless the container holding a vacuum is strong enough it will break with the pressure from the outside forces trying to rush in.

In much the same way, in our bodies, cells need to be involved. They have to be constantly receiving nutrients and dispensing with waste. They need constantly to be performing whatever role it is they are supposed to play in the bigger picture. Neurons fire, heart muscles pump, endocrine cells release hormones, and so on and so forth…

When this process is interrupted or corrupted by an external irritant or by inflammation or for whatever reason, the result is stasis. Stasis is a vacuum of information exchange and nature will seek to fill it in whatever way it can. That’s why dead bodies rot, metal rusts, and perhaps why history tells that sooner or later all great empires fall.

I have previously argued that cancer is a devolutionary process and that is consistent with this argument.  Nature is basically saying to us “if you’re not willing to use this platform for a higher use, then I’m happy to use it for a lower one!” The possibility of no use at all is not an option.

All medicine fails in the end anyway. Nature grants us all a fixed (if not exactly predictable) lease of life and so every physical platform is temporary. The best we can negotiate is an extension of the contract.

The shocking thing about cancer is Continue reading

Sarcodes: Centrepiece of a Medical Revoluton

Today I’m going to set out to describe, as best I can, the nature and basis of the most powerful and widely useful therapeutic intervention I know. Very few have ever set out to write an article on this specific subject – a shameful neglect which I hope will be countered by many more articles to come about sarcodes.

In the process, this will evolve into an introduction to the principal therapeutics used in the various forms of Living Systems Medicine, Field Control Therapy and Homeopathy. As to their diagnostic approaches – that’s beyond the scope of this article.

Over 80% of the remedies I give out in my clinic are “sarcodes.”

Huh? Say what? Sarcodes?

The likelihood is that your local doctor is not using “sarcodes” at all. . . ! They have not yet taken off in the mainstream.

But don’t let that deter you. They are at present the central driving force of a medical storm shaking up clinical practice globally. In short, since effective ways of using sarcodes in the treatment of many modern diseases were found, and especially over the past two decades, medicine can never again be the same.

If any readers have ever wondered what a “sarcode” is – or why it works as it does – don’t worry – I aim at least to give an introduction, overview and hopefully some food for thought on this below! Or in case you have never heard of a “sarcode” before, then let this be an introduction to a bold new trend in medicine.

To explain how sarcodes work, I’ll be referring to tuning forks, Elvis Presley, ducklings and the Mona Lisa. Let’s hope I don’t get too carried away, though. . . Continue reading

Identity, Information Fields and Spirituality

Spiritual practice is good for your health and this is evidenced by studies into meditation, prayer, and meditative practices such as tai chi etc… The question is why and how can this be explained by our information medicine model?

I was riding on a bus the other day and had an insight into this that I hope you may find interesting or even useful. It suddenly struck me that despite the fact that all the cells in our body share the same basic DNA, none of them is identical to any other cell. In other words we are made up of a truly heterogenous community of cellular units with very different functions – each one playing a part in the whole.

This doesn’t sound particularly Earth shattering as an insight, I grant you, but for the first time it dawned on me that the genes of every individual cell are constantly being turned ON and OFF and ON and OFF in some sort of orchestrated concert.  Even two neighbouring cells which are broadly similar in structure and genetic expression probably are very different from each other in any one given moment.

This changing music constantly being played out can be seen as a software program being run on the  common hardware platform of our DNA. It’s primarily this ever changing software program which determines who we are now – not the hardware. Unlike the OS of our computers it is not fixed but is constantly being revised and updated with the experience of life. This is the process of information gathering and refinement in a continuous attempt at an ever more perfect adaption to a changing environment.  What drives all this?

I guess I am trying to paint a picture of a spiritual reality in scientific terms. I’m also in awe at the scale of the complexity: ten trillion cells talking to each other and the outside world. This miracle we call the human body is Continue reading

Key Fact #1 About Mercury – Mercury Fillings and Poisoning by Stealth

Anyone who dispassionately considers the facts I am about to begin to lay out before you cannot help but be appalled into action.

It was not always the case for me, though. I remember the first time I heard about the mercury issue – from a fellow student at the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas in Spain, back when I used to teach English and study Spanish, years before I began my new career in healthcare. She told me that she had suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but had completely recovered after having her mercury fillings removed. At the time, I received this information sceptically.

I didn’t dismiss it out of hand either, as I have never been a person that would do that with new information when I have not researched it – instead I lodge it somewhere in my mind as something which is pending further research, in an agnostic sort of way. But sometimes new information of value suffers just as much when we diminish its importance in our minds as when we reject it outright. In the case of mercury fillings, since I knew precious little about it, I could not form a conclusion, except that I imagined it to be only a minor issue. I filed it away in my mind as a case of, “Oh, I see, well, maybe that’s a small part of the overall puzzle for certain rare cases. . . ” And then I thought no more about it for at least another three or four years, at which time it was thrown in my face more directly by life’s vicissitudes.

I literally had no idea just what I was up against – the enormity of the thing. This only dawned on me many years later, through the hard road of personal experience.

Mercury is like a noise you first notice as a small background hum – like a neighbour’s lawnmower on a Sunday morning Continue reading

Gut Flora bacteria – friends or foe? The tale of the Cinderella organ and the return of the Jedi E-Coli…

What belongs to you yet does not carry your DNA? The answer of course is your bowel flora – those little creatures who have decided to take up residence under human protection. Almost as soon as we discovered them flitting around under the microscope lens they have been maligned as lethal enemies.

Even today bacteria are considered to be our worst foe lurking on the kitchen sink, in our toilets, on our chopping boards, in our food. Nowhere is safe from these little devils.

Artisan bakers are closed down because a bacteria free environment makes fermentation impossible.  Raw milk is banned because we are told it carries bacteria and has been blamed for TB in the past. Our evening TV advertising is full of commercials promoting anti-bacterial wipes and cleaning agents to keep our homes germ free. Even today most GPs turn to antibiotics as the first line of treatment in respiratory infections.

I am not making light of the power of bacteria to act as the agents of disease. Humanity has evolved though great plagues and many, many infectious diseases which have killed millions and millions of our ancestors. Still today we are affected by outbreaks of certain strains of bacteria that can prove fatal.

The most recent catastrophe in Europe,  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13652817 has been blamed on raw food infected by a mutant strain of E-Coli. Continue reading

Cancer – Rebel With a Cause

You have to respect an effective foe and cancer is a formidable enemy to the human form. Once it gains momentum it is an incredibly effective parasite: strangling, bullying and starving the host to death in a long, drawn-out battle that’s often filled with terrible pain.

In the past 40 years, tens if not hundreds of thousands of medical scientists have dedicated their lives to its eradication. The result – apart from a few isolated exceptions – has been an increase in the average life extension of a miserly couple of years. Much of this improvement is probably due to better monitoring and earlier detection. Compared to the resources expended that is not much to show for all the effort.

I’m not going to berate Western Medicine here for its failure in the war against cancer. It would be easy to land a few punches given the ineffectiveness of it all but what does that serve and has it not been done more effectively and eloquently elsewhere?

No, my subject here is cancer itself. Despite its awfulness, I have to admit I find it the most fascinating of all diseases. There is something so deep and profound about cancer that you have to respect it. The diagnosis of cancer is a terrifying experience. The patient knows he has a gargantuan fight on his hands and the odds are stacked against him.

Worse still there is no clear game plan at all. Most people follow a standard oncology procedure which amounts to some combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Alternative medicine does not seem to fare much better with its diets, supplements, and detoxification. All in all, this seems to be a very desperate situation. But how did it get this far? What led up to this often shocking and sudden diagnosis? Continue reading

Top Ten Questions about Mercury

A Modern Plague – or a Noble Donation to Humanity from the Dental Profession?

I believe that questions are sometimes more powerful than answers. Albert Einstein various times spoke about the importance of formulating intelligent questions, as the main theme of scientific inquiry. And in a Zen story I once heard, a tyro who said he had found the answers was told by his Zen Master, “So you say you have found the ultimate answers. Now it is time to go and find the ultimate questions.”

For anyone out there with a general interest in truth, I present here ten questions leading into a discussion of some of the greatest yet least-discussed truths of our generation Continue reading

Cancer – The Unwanted Offspring

I have just finished Dr Gonzalez’ excellent book, The Origins of Cancer and the Trophoblast. In it he makes a compelling case that links the development of cancer with trophoblastic cells which originate in the days and weeks immediately after the formation of a human embryo. These cells enable the embryo to embed itself into the mother’s womb by invading the endometrial tissue in search for nourishment. This is similar to the way a malignant tumour invades local tissue in order to generate its own blood supply.

Clearly there is much that is useful in this theory. It informs Dr Gonzalez’ clinical work with advanced cancer patients and has enabled him by all accounts to save many lives from the ravages of advanced cancer.

It is based on the original work of Dr Beard a century ago who Continue reading

Emotional Traumas – Have We Been Missing Something?

This one is short and sweet. I was almost going to describe this as the greatest insight of my life so far. However, let’s downgrade it to the Second greatest – allowing room for a vacancy to be filled in the future by the greatest, being (I hope) yet to come!

This week I found myself looking at some treetops, and the branches swaying in the wind, and it occurred to me that there is a unity of all things, yet we are socially conditioned to perceive instead the separateness of things; but sometimes we have moments where we forget this conditioning and feel the raw unity of life; and it feels good, so sometimes we call that love; and then I began reflecting that actually society is wrong to condition us only to perceive things all divided from each other, as love and unity are our natural state of being. . .

The insight itself is dreadfully simple, yet its ramifications hold great promise in various fields. Continue reading

Will You Be Using a Mobile/Cell Phone Today? Shocking Facts About Electrosmog, Depression, Insomnia, Serotonin and Melatonin

Below I’ll quote from a study about serotonin and melatonin which commands attention, alongside 10 key facts and statistics I’ve collated.

Prepare to be alarmed.

And seriously so.

But first, here is an entertaining song on topic to start the day, ‘The Cellphone Song,’ by Trillion, courtesy of youtube:

My guess is that over 99% of people reading this right now will at some point today use a mobile/cell phone.

Kevin and I have been writing this blog for over two months, now, and that impels me to give you the “straight shoot” all the more. As Bob Dylan once sang, “Let us not talk falsely now – the hour is getting late!” Or, to quote another American singer-songwriter, Tracy Chapman, it’s best to “Tell it like it is!” So: I count myself fortunate that I will be outside of this 99th percentile, for the sake of my sperm, my DNA, cancer prevention and a host of other reasons. But – purely for starters – let’s look at some facts about depression and insomnia which should be enough to knock a dent in the profits of mobile phone companies by reducing usage among clear-thinking populations. . .

For any readers in Ireland, don’t miss the exciting public talks we’re organising this coming weekend in County Galway, Ireland, with guest speaker Paul Doyon, international EMF expert who has travelled here all the way from Japan, and who will be joined by Dublin-based John Weigel and Pauline Keeley of the Alliance for Irish Radiation Protection. We sought to bring these speakers together at a local event in order to help raise awareness. More details follow below. We’re also considering the possibility of videoing the presentations, and speaking for myself I’m eagerly looking forward to hearing what they all have to say! These upcoming talks have prompted me to prepare a blog today as the first in a series about electrosmog.

Guess what? Paul Doyon doesn’t own a mobile/cell phone. Nor do I. Yet I have to ask myself – why is it that I can count on the fingers of my two hands the number of people I know who can say the same?

I hasten to add that I am not, by any means, a Luddite, and nor is Paul! Believe me, we are not living in caves chewing on old bones in the dirt. . . ;-) Continue reading

The 12 Naturopathic Principles revisited

I was recently asked to write an introduction to naturopathy and I thought I’d revert to the 12 principles that I was taught at college. Here’s the full text of what I wrote. I tried to bring the principles to life by commenting on them in the light of practising natural medicine for a few years now. I share these thoughts with you below and look forward to your take on the founding principles from which we practise.

Naturopathic medicine has been part of human life since human primates first began to roam around and forage for food. As such it probably dates back to before homo sapiens. Our ancestors discovered that some plants and herbs were beneficial to eat whereas others were dangerous when consumed. They passed this information down from one generation to the next and herbal medicine which is a central part of naturopathy was born. Continue reading

A neglected genius, and one of the greatest of scientists: Von Bertalanffy

Although he has been described as a “titan” of modern science, Ludwig von Bertalanffy’s genius has not been as largely recognized as it should have been, and it has been suggested that it is because he isn’t always easy to read! So in today’s blog, I’ve decided to write a brief piece for you in which I select a “snapshot” easy glimpse into the marvellous world of his thought.

By the brevity of this blog, I aim to show his brilliance in greater focus. At his best, his words are like pure gold, worth returning to again and again, as I hope to show.

His work represents early seeds of the transformation not of one branch of science, but of the entire practice of modern science. In addition, once you get into his work, you recognize that you are in the hands of a man of great insight; a genuine “seer,” if you like. Continue reading
